Hard and soft floors – what does that mean?
Rule of thumb: the harder the floor, the softer the bond of the tool. Soft floors (young concrete, soft screed, plaster, asphalt) need a hard bond, medium-hard floors (normal concrete, cement screed, terrazzo) a medium bond, hard floors (dense old concrete) a soft bond and very hard floors (highly compacted concrete, hard-aggregate screed, granite) a very soft bond. Which hardness and grit do I need?
Coarse grit removes material faster, fine grit gives a smoother surface. The floor hardness determines the bond, see above.
